A Message from Toby Moore, Director of TEDxBrighton
"This year, I am incredibly excited to bring our theme, PLANET HOPE, to life on the TEDxBrighton stage. It is a concept I have been developing in my mind for years, a creative and academic exploration that brings together humanity’s biggest questions with the science and innovation needed to create real solutions for a happier, healthier world.
Speakers like Kevan Smith, Kaia Allen Bevan, and Aflo the Poet will bring a local edge of activism and social entrepreneurship, offering guiding lights on what is possible, right here, right now.
Alongside them, Jenna Rhodes-Tiwana, Susan Charlesworth, and Sam Zindle will weave stories of science, nature, space, and progress, painting a vision of the bold, bright future our planet could embrace."

Speaker Spotlights: Who’s Taking the Stage?
TEDxBrighton’s speaker lineup is packed with inspiring individuals who are changing the world with their ideas and actions. Here’s a glimpse at some of the thought leaders taking the stage:
Kevan Smith – Movements don’t happen by accident; they are built piece by piece. Kevan, who started his journey at TEDxBrighton last year, has seen his movement grow exponentially. His talk, “Why Starting a Movement Is Almost as Good as Starting a Cult,” will challenge our understanding of community action and inspire attendees to create real change.
Kaia Allen Bevan – A Forbes-featured activist and the CEO of Youth The Gap CIC, Kaia has been a leading voice in racial justice since the age of 16. From organising Brighton’s BLM demonstrations to tackling educational inequities, she is reshaping how we approach learning on a global scale. This year, Kaia will also be co-hosting TEDxBrighton, ensuring a powerful and engaging experience for all attendees.
Aflo the Poet – A spoken word artist, activist, and academic, Aflo uses her poetry to amplify voices, spark conversations, and challenge the systems shaping our world. Her performance will explore how creative expression can drive real social change.
Jenna Rhodes-Tiwana – As humanity stands on the brink of becoming an interplanetary species, Jenna, a lunar strategist, will challenge us to rethink our approach to space exploration in her talk, “Interplanetary Hope: Can We Avoid Repeating History?” Will we carry forward old systems of inequality, or build something truly new?
Susan Charlesworth – A specialist in high-performance psychology, Susan has worked with astronauts, Antarctic explorers, and business leaders operating under extreme pressure. Her talk will unlock the science behind resilience, innovation, and peak performance, helping us push past our limits.
Sam Zindle – A business leader and climate advocate, Sam is launching Generation Restoration, a movement dedicated to long-term environmental action. His TEDxBrighton talk will inspire attendees to turn their concern for climate change into meaningful, sustainable action.
